Split a panorama in your browser

  1. Open the splitter

Go to the free Glassy carousel splitter on your phone or computer. Nothing is uploaded; the photo stays on your device.

  2. Choose the panorama

Pick it from Photos or drop it in. The splitter suggests a slide count that fits the photo without stretching it.

  3. Set the shape and crop

Keep Portrait 4:5 for the biggest result in the feed. Slide the position so people and text sit away from the dashed seams.

  4. Save and post in order

Save the slides to Photos or download the ZIP, then select them in Instagram as slide 1, 2, 3 and so on.

Open the free carousel splitter Split a panorama into 2 to 20 seamless slides at 4:5, 1:1 or 3:4.

How many slides does a panorama need?

Divide the panorama's width by its height, then divide that by the slide ratio. An iPhone panorama of 12000 × 3000 px has a ratio of 4; for 4:5 slides that is 4 ÷ 0.8 = 5 slides. Round to the nearest whole number and crop a little from the top or bottom if needed.

Make the seams work for you

  • Keep faces, horizons that tilt and short words away from the seams; let sky, water or walls cross them.
  • Make the first slide interesting on its own, because it is the cover in the feed.
  • Very wide panoramas get short and thin. If the result looks like a strip, crop the panorama tighter and use fewer slides.
  • Want text, stickers or a second photo that crosses the seam? That needs a layered editor such as Glassy rather than a straight cut.
